Basic connection setup:

  2. Make sure your drive is connected to the computer and Turned On.
  3. On your Windows 10 computer, make a right-click on the Start icon and select Disk Management.
  4. You can directly format the drive on the Windows Explorer screen, but it is not a proper method to format a disk.
  5. On the Disk Management screen, right-click on your Seagate drive and then select Format.
  6. Now, you have to allocate the drive space.
  7. Right-click on the unallocated drive and then select New Simple Volume.
  8. In the New Simple Volume Wizard, Click Next.
  9. On the Specify Volume Size screen, type the volume size in the Simple volume size in MB text field and click Next.
  10. In the next window, assign a name to your drive, click the radio button for Assign the following drive letter drop-down box and select the letter from the list. Now, click Next.
  11. On the Format Partition screen, select NTFS from the File system drop-down box.
  12. Set the Allocation unit size to Default.
  13. Type the name for your drive in the Volume label text field.
  14. Click the Perform a quick format checkbox and then click Next.
  15. Wait for few seconds; once you see the Completing the New Simple Volume Wizard screen, click
